- A few weeks ago, a group of fans gathered outside what’s left of Shea Stadium to pay their respects.
- The president and CEO of the Greater Miami & The Beaches Hotel Association sticks it to the Marlins by arguing that their poor attendance record is one of the reasons why Convention Development Tax dollars should go toward upgrading Miami’s convention center, and not a new baseball stadium. I wasn’t aware anybody in Miami knew they had a baseball team, let alone a home stadium.
- Finally, a professor from the University of Hartford writes in an Op-Ed in Newsday that the anger Mets fans are showing toward Citigroup (one of the companies that received bailout money while brokering a stadium naming rights deal) is emblematic of the general shift in American’s attitudes toward the companies that brought on this recession.
